Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, head of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal directorate, has reacted to a recent viral video in which President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is captured ordering some chiefs to stand and greet him.
Edudzi in a post on Facebook said tribal sentiments would have followed a similar incident if it was done by former President John Dramani Mahama.
"Imagine H.E. John Mahama commanding chiefs to stand up to greet him. The tribalists would have been up in arms," his post of April 27, 2024, read.
In the 12-second video that went viral on social media platforms, the president is captured making his way to greet traditional leaders at what appears to be a funeral.
But in what should have been a routine activity, the president and one of his bodyguards are seen signalling to some chiefs to rise to their feet before he greets them.
It is unclear where the president was and at what event, but the video went viral on social media with others sharing instances where Akufo-Addo was captured greeting chiefs who were seated.
