Barely few days after controversial lawmaker for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong threatened to reveal some secrets about the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and how it defeated the current opposition National Democratic Congress at the 2016 polls, Majority Leader and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has said he should be ignored on such threats.
According to him, the party has no secret for Mr Kennedy Agapong to reveal regarding how it won the 2016 elections indicating that polls were won by dent of hard work which is evident for all party members to see.
“I don’t know what Kennedy knows which I’m not aware, but what I will say, hard work made us win that election. For instance, in my constituency, I was determined to prove to the NDC that it is by God’s grace and the hard work of my constituency executives”. Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu made the clarification on Kumasi based Angel Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com.
Mr Agyapong is quoted to have threatened to release full detail of how the New Patriotic Party (NPP) won the December 7, 2016 elections if he is continuously undermined by some unnamed individuals in the party.
“I am not a minister and I don’t fear being sacked. I will speak the truth till death. If anyone invites me I will not honour such an invitation from anyone in NPP because I fear no one. No one can also threaten me if they dare, I will come on the radio and reveal how we won the election. If they can go and sit at Alisa Hotel and threaten to collapse my business….they should get ready for me….I am ready to face anybody in NPP”, he warned.
He revealed that the persons planning his downfall have consistently asked him to shut up before he can get contracts in the current administration warning that he will never kowtow to their whims and caprices.
But Kyei Mensah Bonsu who recently crossed swords with his colleague Member of Parliament insists that the party worked hard and was rewarded with victory contrary to what the lawmaker is trying to suggest indicating that in the Suame constituency for example he redoubled efforts.
He noted that while he toured his constituency, his executives in three groups had a special campaign strategy dubbed the “house to house” approach.
“Every house in the constituency was visited. We didn’t do grand rally and that approach increased the total votes”
According to him, his total vote increased by 4,000 while that of the presidential candidate Nana Addo increased by 2500 votes.
“So that is how we worked, therefore I know hard work made us win the elections”. He responded to Ken’s claims.
Speaking on other mechanisms to help his party, Kyei Mensah noted that, his party adequately prepared for any unusual activity by vigilante groups from their opponents in the race all over the country. “It was done in every constituency,” he said.
“And after that, we also devoted our victory unto God. I believe that made us win the elections, he added
“If anybody has a secret about our victory, then he may know what I don’t or didn’t see,” he said.
