I commend KKD for accepting his son’s homosexuality

I must say I am impressed with the boldness and love with which KKD has publicly endorsed the sexuality of his son, Darkwah Kyei-Darkwah. I am personally proud of that confidence and truthfulness.

Many Ghanaians cannot take this bold step and would publicly deny their children whilst deep in their hearts they support them. This man is not a hypocrite at all and has spoken the mind of many people.

Again, it will be very wrong for me to attack KKD who has more travel experience, met many people of international repute and interacted with more homosexuals than I have. My experience is far below and I may need twice his exposure to properly argue his facebook comment about his son’s sexuality.

What I have set out to do, however, is just to speak into the matter as a ‘common preacher’ who has genuine sympathy for homosexuals and seeks that the Lord will grant them grace to be saved from that burden and its associated passion.

Homosexuality has been an issue the world and its cultures and religions have battled with for many centuries. Almost every culture and religion did not accept homosexuality until recent times when the Gay movement seem to be winning the war through wealth and political influence.

Every true African Christian who has a deep relationship with Jesus Christ and who truly studies the Bible each day believing and practicing its content will find it impossible to practice or endorse homosexuality. Those who have the boldness to do this might have given up on their culture or lost interest in the religion they practice.

There are strict laws and regulations against all forms of vices because of the natural tendency of all people to chose wrong over right. In Africa where laws are enacted but not enforced, discipline is either minimal or completely absent. However, in the West where laws are enforced and all people are equal before the law, discipline is better.

This same principle could be applied to those who seek to exploit their sexuality against the principles of culture and nature. They need guidelines, measures and laws that will encourage them to want to desire what is right and appropriate.

When we begin to endorse our children’s sexuality even when it is against our culture and Christian principles then we should be ready to promote all the other vices they are attracted to - drug addiction, murder, theft, terrorism, etc.

When people come to the level where they believe in all cultures, all religions and all lifestyles, then they have lost their culture, religion and lifestyle. Remember the Bible admonishes that, salt and fresh water cannot flow from the same source.

I will not endorse homosexuality because a wealthy person somewhere or an international award winner endorses it. I make my decisions because the Bible I read teaches me, or my culture informs me.

The great mistakes we make sometimes are partly because of those we look up to and how fame and riches compel us to idolize mortals. When we lose our gaze on the one we have believed we miss our path.

Inasmuch as I appreciate this bold step by KKD, I will entreat all parents to tenderly lead their children to the right path when deviant sexual desires engulf them. If this were my Church pulpit, I would have quoted one of my favourite scriptures:

I beseech you therefore, bretheren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

One of the greatest sacrifices any homosexual can give to God is to place that desire for the same sex partner on the altar to be burnt as a living sacrifice to Him. This is not an easy thing to do but a possible sacrifice because others have done it.

My simple prayer is that the bold step of KKD to endorse his son’s sexuality will not open the way for more young people to accept what our Culture and Christ considers wrong.
