Health officials investigate use of mosquito nets for fishing

The Eastern Regional Health Directorate says it is investigating media reports that some villages in the region are using insecticide mosquito nets for fishing.

Media reports say some people in Sekesua, Akaten and their environs have been using the nets distributed to them by the Ghana Health Service for fishing and fencing of their gardens.

Regional Health Director, Dr. Mc Damein Dedzo tells Joy News investigations are ongoing.

He admitted his outfit would have to intensify the education of residents about the purpose for which the nets were given to them, “and the benefit that they are supposed to derive from these nets”.
