Gov’t goodies clouding Pratt’s principles - NPP man alleges

A member of the communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Boakye has sharply criticized Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr for losing his self-acclaimed socialist principles.

Nana Boakye said this while reacting to claims by the veteran journalist that, it is not feasible to have factories in all districts of the country.

“You [Kwesi Pratt] have lost your principles in defending the NDC in any case…you have let that clouded your principles…you have lost it in defense of the NDC…now you defend the NDC better than NDC communicators and that is a shame for me,” Nana B told angry Kwesi Pratt on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo Programme.

Kwesi Pratt on the program attacked Nana Addo over his recent promise to establish a factory in every district of the country.

According to him, when these factories are set up across the country, not only will they kick-start the accelerated industrialization of Ghana’s economy, but it will also result in the creation of hundreds of thousands of jobs.

“The only way to free ourselves from the shackles of poverty is by fixing our monetary system. If we are to do this, our monetary system must be stable and strong.

This is the only way we can empower Ghanaians. We want to help the private sector to flourish, and we will help establish factories in every district to help create jobs for the people,” he said.

But Kwesi Pratt insists, ‘it wasn’t feasible’ to have this done.

This view of Kwesi Pratt, according to Nana Boakye was never a perfect one as the NPP in 2008 already had plans to develop a factory in every district.

Nana Boakye noted that the attempt to ridicule the idea of the NPP flagbearer by Kwesi Pratt amounted to him ‘rubbishing the ideas of Kwame Nkrumah’ which was to help with the industrialization of the country.

He, therefore, called on Kwesi Pratt to discard his ‘total defense of the NDC’ which is overshadowing his appreciation of even feasible programs to develop the country.

This suggestion, Kwesi Pratt said was never true as ‘he has never and would never rubbish the ideas of Nkrumah’. He further challenged Nana B to ‘show which of Nkrumah’s ideas he has rubbished’.

“Nkrumah never made the same promises Nana Addo is claiming…it was in the five-year development plan and later in the 7-year development plan but where is your plan…?” he asked.
