Ghanaians prefer a man of peace to a man of war

In spite of the current challenges I dare say the good people of Ghana are better off under the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by President John Dramani Mahama. I am of the strong view that given the opportunity to judge the two governments NDC and NPP the masses will tell the difference with no difficulty at all.

I get sick when I hear leading members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) shouting from the ivory tower that times are hard. I pause and ask were the times soft under their rule for eight years.

President John Mahama was the first to acknowledge that the country was going through a challenge through no fault of his, but as president he was working to reverse the situation. True to his words Ghanaians can see light at the end of the tunnel.

The president is showing leadership by working so hard to put in place positive measures to put the economy on a strong footing, and we are seeing the dividends.

Indeed if things were rosy under the previous NPP government, their flag bearer for the 2012 elections will not have been in court fighting over pink sheets. Nana Addo would have won the 2008 elections hands down.

Under the current administration Ghanaians go about their duties in the spirit of peace and good neighborliness without any fear of intimidation or harassment. Could this be the case under a Nana Addo presidency? Obviously not!

The masses have not forgotten the advice by Kofi Coomson "I can't sleep under Nana Addo's presidency. Why because the man believes in "all die be die."

I have also heard about the alleged corruption under this government but what is gratifying to note is the fact that the president has shown leadership in taken decisive measures to address the anomaly. I will not shield my appointees who would be found culpable of any corrupt act and truly President Mahama had cracked the whip a couple of times as most of his appointees are going through investigations amongst others.

Under the eight years of the NPP when civil society and Ghanaians in general were accusing the officials of government of corruption and misappropriation of government funds all that the then President John Agyekum Kufuor said was " corruption started from Adam," meaning there was nothing he could do, and the rot continued.

Nana Akufo Addo was then minister of Justice and Attorney general kept mute over the open and clear chop chop, and today he wants to be President. Ghanaians are not sleeping, they are wide awake and will prove to him that they are better off under the John Mahama administration come 2016.

What did former president Kufuor and the NPP do to with Haruna Esseku's kickback allegation? Hotel Waa Waa, indiscriminate sale of prime Ga Lands to friends, family and cronies, the diversion of 69 billion cedis of Tax Payers money to fund NPP Propaganda machinery, E.O group shares in Jubilee Field, the Anane Scandal, the Amoateng Cocaine Saga......the list is tall and thus will not bore you with more.

It is said that those who live in glass houses throw no stones but in this case the pot is still insisting the kettle is black. Can you imagine?

President John Mahama has been plain, honest and truthful to the good people of Ghana with regards to the economic situation and things have started getting better.

He is delivering on the social contract he entered into with the people and hopeful that the masses will once again vote to retain he and the NDC in power in the 2016 elections. After all a peaceful president is far better than a warmonger!
