A Ghanaian national, Eric Amoafo who has faced several threats on his life from some notorious land guards, had fled to Europe currently on exile and seeking political asylum from government.

Eric Amoafo, according to information, had to flee to Europe because he was being pursued by members of a land guard group who have been allegedly tasked by their leaders to retrieve relevant documents on the Achiaman lands, which they believe are in his possession.

Eric Amoafo’s late father who was also assassinated was a close friend of the assassinated Achiaman chief, Nii Kwartey Ajan I and the murdered Nii Tettey Sarbah, a Development Chief at Adeymann community in the Ga East Municipality.

According to close relatives of Eric Amoafo, some people are planning to kill him in the same manner they murdered the Achiaman chief and his father, hence the decision to seek exile in Europe.

“As a family, we are drawing government’s attention to the latest development and the series of attacks at Eric Amoafo’s residence at Achiaman,” the source said.

Meanwhile, residents of Achiaman have complained of series of attacks and murders of innocent victims and prospective investors who buy lands from the area but are confronted by land guards on the sites on several occasions.

The attacks on Eric Amoafo is because of his close association with the late Achiaman chief, Nii Kwartey Ajan I for which it was suspected that he might be in possession of land documents which they (land guards and their pay masters) were unable to recover from Nii Kwartey Ajan I and his late father.

It is on record that litigation over land was at the heart of the February 2011 killing of Achiaman Chief Nii Kwartey Ajan I.

More than six years later, another chief has been murdered in a similar circumstance.

Eric Amoafo who is currently in exile, according to family sources cannot return to Ghana anytime soon because land guards are all over seeking to kill him.

The family is appealing to government to grant him formal political asylum in Europe to enable him protect his life from the hands of these land guards.

The police is still in search for the perpetrators of that crime.
