I am a born and bred Ghananian but presently residing in the UK. To cut a long story short, i once visited the high commission to collect some forms. And i will like to say that the receptionist was one of the rudest and most insolent 'clones' that i have ever met. I dont know if any of your readers have ever said anything similar before, it is quite sad, he did not understand the begining of customer service he emanated a profusion of body odour that will put a skunk to shame, and to crown it all he stopped serving the growing queue to have a telephone conversation loud enough to be heard in times square about how hungry he was and why he had not been invited to have a meal by the person at the other end.

It is not my ultimate aim to be a grass or rude to him, but i feel that for a key position like that, the criteria for employment should be a lot higher and stringent. A friend who had also experienced a similar confrontation suggested that 'that man must have been given the job as a favour from a friend, family member or as a result of a bribe' because there is no way that he could have passed an interview.

The long and short of it is, there are wonderful citizens all over the world and especially in Ghana who do a great job in customer service, but the likes of Mr F. put us all to shame, i wish something could be done, maybe if i have dinner next with the commissioner i may mention it, but presently i am ashamed to affliate myself with the likes of Mr F. No body is perfect, but by jove we can all improve.
