Ghana 2008 mascot named Agro-Hene

Accra, Oct 19, GNA- The mascot for Ghana 2008 Africa Cup of Nations has been named Agro-Hene.
Agro-hene, "King of Football" was outdoored at the official balloting of the 26th edition of the biennial event held at the elegant Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Friday, October 19. Lepowura M .N. D Jawula, Vice Chairman of the Board of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) said the Agro-hene was derived from the passion that the globular leather presents on the continent.
A typical Ga Traditional naming ceremony, the main ethnic group of the people of the capital city, Accra preceded the christening of the mascot.
Agro-hene is an eagle in motion clad in the rich Ghanaian traditional attire, Kente with black-striped shots to match. The mascot was unveiled by President of the Republic of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor and President of the Confederation of African Football (ACF), Alhaj Issa Hayatou at the global launch of Ghana 2008 held at the AICC last September.
Ghana 2008 spans January 20- February 10.
