Emulate President Kufuor's Gentility, or....

Eastern Region NPP chairman warns deviant members

The Eastern Regional Chairman of the NPP, Nana Adi Ankamah, has warned that henceforth, any indisciplined member of the party in the region would be expelled.

According to him, indiscipline has reared its ugly head in the party such that there is the need to stamp it out so that the party would stand on its feet.

Nana Adi Ankamah, who gave the warning at the Lower West Akim Constituency delegate congress at Asamakese on Thursday, said there is so much indiscipline in the country which is having its toll on the party.

He said it is rather unfortunate that the leader of the party, who is a gentleman by nature, and has as a result earned the accolade ?gentle giant,? has followers who are not ready to emulate his gentility for the good of the party.

The regional chairman suggested that one way of addressing the issue is to give back mission schools to churches to instil discipline in the youth, adding that when this is done, the moral fibre of the people will change for the better.

Inaugurating the nine member executive committee, Nana Adi Ankamah called on them to set up a disciplinary committee so as to bring discipline into the party in the area.

The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Gustav Narh Dometey, said no one within the party is above the laws of the party and that there is no way that the constitution of the party would permit anyone to lord it on the people who have elected them into office.

He also called on the newly elected members to always maintain good relationship with members of the party as well as outsiders to win more people into the party?s fold.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Peter K. Amoabeng, called on party members to avoid petty squabbles, to get the party progressing.

The West Akim DCE, Sheikh Omar Amoah, called on them to be vigilant and prepare for the good work that it has started. The Regional Secretary of the party, Mr S. M. Ahyiah, also called on members, especially those in the area, to stop undermining each other.

The nine members who were sworn in to office by the regional chairman were Mr Awuku Peprah -Chairman, Mr J. K. Ameyaw-First Vice-Chairman, Mr Addo Kofi Annor - Secretary. The rest are Assistant Secretary, Mr E. N. Apeagyei, Treasurer, Mr Kingsley Osei, Organiser, Mr David Apetsi, Women?s Organiser, Mr Abubakar Adam.

In an earlier development, the Upper West Akim Constituency also held its delegate congress where the Chairman, Mr Mohammed Nkrumah, his First and Second Vice-Chairmen, Mr Ayuba Aguzey and Mr Solomon Ahadzi, retained their positions.
