Father slashes immoral daughter with knife

Tema, July 29, GNA - Anthony Adjei Adjetey, a fisherman of Tema Manhean nearly murdered his fourteen-year-old daughter, when he slashed her two thighs and her wrist with a kitchen knife for her immoral behaviour.

Adjetey, who has been cautioning the daughter, Priscilla Adjei, a class five pupil of the Presbyterian Basic School at Tema Manhean against her flirtatious behaviour, committed the act on July 25, this year at about 1300 hours.

The Tema Circuit Court 'B' presided over by Mr Nicholas Mensah Abodakpi convicted Adjetey on his own plea of guilty to the charge of causing unlawful harm, when he appeared before it but was remanded in custody to reappear on August 15, 2006 for sentence.

Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court that, the victim, who went to brigade meeting at the Manhean Presbyterian Church premises on July 23, 2006 was seen by the father, when she was buying oranges by the road side. She told the father she was coming from brigade meeting at the Presbyterian Church. The prosecutor said the father threatened to beat the victim, but she ran away, adding that, two days after, the victim left home at about 0400 hours, when Adjetey threatened beating her again after waking her up from sleep and cautioning her on her behaviour.

Chief Inspector Nutakor indicated that, victim, who returned home at about 1300 hours the same day, was assaulted by the father, who slashed her two thighs and one of her wrist with a kitchen knife he was using to dress a fish.

The facts further stated that Adjetey admitted committing the offence after being arrested by the Tema Manhean police, when the victim was rushed there and a medical form issued to her for treatment. Meanwhile, George Martey, the 48-year-old driver of Tema Community Eight, who murdered his 16-year-old daughter, Portia Martey on April 17, 2006 with a kitchen knife for her immorality has died at the Tema General Hospital after being rushed there from custody, the prosecutor stated.
