Ebony's awards will be taken to her graveside - Management reveals

Management of the late 2018 VGMA ‘Artiste of the Year’, Ebony Reigns, known in real life as Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, have hinted of taking the accolades she won at the just-ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards to her graveside.

Speaking in an interview with Accra-based Onua FM, assistant manager of the late artiste, Allen Kofi Anti, said that management was planning on setting a date when they would storm the Osu Cemetery in Accra with the awards.

The management of the late act revealed that they had given the awards to the late artiste’s parents but were going to take it to the artiste at her graveside to honor her.

Ebony Reigns picked up 3 awards at the 19th Edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which was held at the Accra International Conference Center on April 14.

The awards she picked included the ‘Afro-Pop’ song of the Year’, ‘Album of the Year’ and the coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ breaking 2 records of becoming the first female artiste to win the award and the first artiste to be awarded posthumously.

Ebony died in a gory accident on the Sunyani-Kumasi road while returning to Accra from Sunyani. Her childhood friend and PA, Franky Kuri and one air force official, Francis Atsu Vondee, who posed as a bodyguard also died in the car crash.

The final funeral rites and burial service of the late Dancehall diva Ebony Reigns have been scheduled for March 24, 2018 instead of the first date, March 17. The postponement follows difficulties to secure a big enough venue for the funeral. She was buried at the Osu Cemetery after the final funeral rites were held in Accra at the forecourt of the State House.
