Despite the relentless efforts and records in the corruption fight of the immediate past Auditor-General, Mr. Daniel Yao Domelevo’s only mistake while in office was to go after some government officials perpetuating criminalities calling for his undeserved removal from office.

According to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) lawmaker for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Mr. Domelevo made the biggest mistake to press criminal charges against the Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo who entered into an agreement worth $1m with a foreign company; a move which led to his sack from office by the President.

“This is a celebrated Auditor General of high repute. Fearless Auditor General who is going after everybody….We all know what happened in this country. ….His only mistake, Yao Domelevo’s mistake or crime was to dare surcharge the Senior Minister. ..That is not perception, that is not propaganda”, he noted

“We all celebrate him. See how he was treated. ..I know of former appointees, former Ministers whom he has surcharged. Some of them are even in court challenging that. He has spared nobody. You can’t say this is somebody who is biased or partisan or asked to grind the current administration”, Hon. Ablakwa stated on JoyNews‘ Newsfile monitored by

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the President’s performance and the perception about the President’s policy decisions and the fact that corruption has surged under this current government is real and not propaganda

“The circumstances leading to the resignation of the [former] Special Prosecutor. What did Martin Amidu himself say? He says the biggest mistake he made in his life was to believe that the President genuinely wanted to fight corruption” Hon. Ablakwa stated.
