It has emerged that the de-stooled chief of Asafo, Akyamfo? Kwame Akowuah III was found guilty of 10 out of 45 charges levelled against him by the kingmakers, MyNewsGh.com reports.

The Chief since Thursday, June 20, 2019 ceased to be the Kumasi Asafohene after he was found guilty for various corrupt practices including illegal sale of lands and pocketing the monies while flouting the Great Oath of Asanteman, one of the pillars of the Asante Kingdom.

He was among other things not excluding “autocratic” leadership and failed to perform his duties contrary to Asante customs and traditions.

Delivering the final judgement at the Manhyia Palace after a deliberation by the various esteemed Asante Chiefs on the punishment to be meted out to Asafohene and their appreciation of the charges leveled against him last Thursday, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II said Akyamfo? Kwame Akowuah III, breached the customs and traditions of the Asante Kingdom, which is punishable and subsequently demanded him to cease parading himself as the Kumasi Asafohene henceforth.

It is said that the Asantehene had on several occasions warned the Asafohene on issues ranging from illegal sale of lands, destoolment and enstoolment of his sub-chiefs, meddling in the VIP bus transport business among other violations.

The Asafohene is said to have illegally sold lands to Business Mogul, Dr. Kwaku Oteng without the necessary documentations resulting in a litigation and his refusal to take care of his Queenmother which is his traditional mandate.

Akyamfo? Kwame Akowuah III, Kumasi Asafohene who has just been destooled was the head of Akwamu Division of the Kumasi Traditional Council (KTC), and was enstooled in 2011.
