C. K. Akonnor to face his former team Ashanti Gold in NC Special Competition

Kumasi Asante Kotoko will host their regional rivals Ashanti Gold in the Match Day 4 of the Normalization Committee Special Competition.

A lot has happened between the two clubs in the last 365 days and it’s likely to add more bite in the clash on Wednesday.

The animosity between these two clubs raised to a different level after management of Ashanti Gold refused to release their players to the Porcupine Warriors during their Confederation Cup campaign.

On the pitch, they have a score to settle after the rescheduling of their President Kuffour Ceremonial Cup few months ago.

Kotoko’s coach C K Akonnor will have something to prove to his former club when they lock horns on Wednesday.

Saddick Adams, Eric Donkor and Richard Osei Agyemang who were declared surplus to requirement at Kumasi Asante Kotoko have since rediscovered their form and will be determined to prove something against their former employers.

Asante Kotoko have won two and lost one of their opening three games in the NC Special Competition so far.

Whilst Ashanti Gold can boast of one win and two draws in three games. They are the only side yet to concede a goal in the competition.

Team News

Daniel Nii Adjei, Obed Owusu and Muntari Tagoe have been called to the team and will be in contention to play a part in the game.

Songne Yacouba is set to miss out again for the Porcupine Warriors following his transfer rummours.

Robert Dabuo is likely to reclaim his starting role after being dropped for Frank Boateng in their last game at Dormaa.

Coach Tanasejiv is likely to maintain the midfield trio of James Akaminko, Appiah McCarthy and Amos Nkrumah.

Ashgold have won only one game in their last eleven games against Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium.

They have lost seven and have drawn three in that process.
