Government has secured funding for the construction of 123 out of the 200 Secondary schools promised by President John Mahama, Finance Minister Seth Terkper has said.

According to him, 50 of the promised schools are at various stages of completion across the country.

During the 2012 campaign, President John Mahama promised that his government will build 50 SHSs across the country every year of his four-year tenure.

The schools are meant to help increase access to Senior High Schools.

One of the 200 schools in each of the 10 regions is meant to be designed into a sports college with a football field and other sports facilities.

Each of the schools would have 24 classrooms, three laboratories, two libraries, eight offices for heads of departments, internet facilities among other facilities, and would be completed within 18 Months.

Delivering the 2015 budget in Parliament on Wednesday, Terkper said the schools will be completed as promised by 2016.

He also added that the Free Progressive Secondary Education promised by the President during the 2013 State of the Nation Address will commence in 2015.
