Bono health directorate sets up 7 preposition centres to deal with coronavirus

The Bono directorate of the Ghana Health Service (GHS) has set up seven preposition centres to help deal with the spread of COVID-19.

It forms part of the Directorate’s efforts to help to deal effectively with a possible case in the Bono, Ahafo and Bono East regions.

The seven centres set up for that purpose are in Goaso, Atebubu, Kintampo, Dormaa, Sampa and Sunyani.

These seven centres have been carefully chosen taking into consideration the geographical spread of the three regions.

According to the Deputy Director of Public Health, Dr Ekow Otoo, the seven preposition centres will serve as backups to all the hospitals and clinics in the three regions.

He revealed that the limited logistics available for the fight against COVID-19 will be concentrated at these preposition sites.

Speaking at a press briefing organised to sensitise media personnel on the novel coronavirus in the Bono region, Dr Otoo said that the Directorate has outlined these measures ahead of a possible case within their jurisdiction.

“So, in the Ahafo, Bono and Bono East Regions, we have made sure that all our Regional and District Hospitals have identified and isolation area and they have got the place ready so that if we should have any case, we will take them there. Apart from making sure that all the hospitals and clinics have a holding area we have deliberately identified some districts where we call preposition sites so that the limited logistics that we have we concentrating them in these preposition sites.”



He added that the directorate is not leaving any stone unturned as it has also set up identified isolation centres in all the Regional and District hospitals in the Ahafo, Bono and Bono East Regions for that purpose.
He charged media practitioners to partner the Ghana Health Service to intensify the education on COVID-19.
