Aspiring flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, Dr Bryan Acheampong has asserted that his record of bold decision-making both in public service and the private sector places him ahead of other contenders in the party’s flagbearer race.
Speaking at a training program for campaign coordinators drawn from across the country on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, he underscored the importance of courage and decisive action in leadership, stressing that the NPP needs a leader who is not afraid to take tough but necessary decisions to safeguard the country’s future.

“I have demonstrated time and again that I am a bold leader. My record speaks for itself. Whether in government or in the private sector, I have taken initiatives that many thought were impossible. That is why I say with confidence that my bold leadership sets me apart from other aspirants,” he stated.
He cited his tenure at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, where he championed the cancellation of the cocoa syndication facility. According to him, this bold step helped protect the interests of the Ghanaian farmer and restructured cocoa financing to favour the nation.
He also pointed to the construction of dams in northern Ghana, a policy intervention designed to boost irrigation and ensure year-round farming for communities that had long struggled with drought and food insecurity.
Dr Acheampong further highlighted his achievements in the private sector, particularly his ongoing efforts to construct an airport in Kwahu, which he described as a game-changer for tourism, business, and regional development.
“When I talk about bold leadership, I am not speaking in abstract terms. I am speaking from experience. At Agric, we took bold measures to change systems that were not working. In Kwahu, through private initiative, we are putting up an airport that will transform the local economy. That is the type of leadership the NPP and Ghana need,” he said.

The Abetifi lawmaker urged his campaign coordinators to carry this message of bold, transformative leadership to the grassroots, noting that the 2026 internal elections would require the NPP to present a leader with a proven record of innovation, resilience, and courage.
He emphasised that the upcoming contest within the NPP is not just about electing a flagbearer but about choosing a winning candidate, someone capable of leading Ghana into the next phase of its development.
“Our party has a tradition of producing leaders who have transformed Ghana at critical moments in history. I am prepared to continue that legacy. What we need is not rhetoric but the courage to make decisions that secure the future of our people,” Dr. Acheampong stressed.
The training programme, which brought together regional campaign coordinators, was aimed at equipping them with the necessary skills and strategies to effectively communicate the campaign’s vision and mobilize support across the
country.
