An eyewitness account: Mahama’s troubling business crippling dumsor has been arrested!

In 2018, I heeded to the advice of my dearest discussants and proceeded to Ghana with the view to observing the conditions back home.

So on 30th November 2018, I strolled down the corridors of the newly built Terminal 3 at around 8:00pm.

Delightfully, throughout my ten weeks working holiday, I met no dumsor. There was no Akufo-Addo’s dumsor as the scaremongers were portraying before I embarked on my trip to Ghana. Indeed, Mahama’s dumsor is no more. Change is good indeed.

I must admit, though, I was full of admiration for discerning Ghanaians for voting out the maladaptive NDC administration on 7th December 2016.

In retrospect, on 7th December 2016, discerning Ghanaians found in NPP, a redeemer, in whom they reposed their absolute trust to set them free from the NDC government’s unpardonable economic enslavement.

Given the circumstances back then, one cannot be far from right for suggesting that if discerning Ghanaians had not graciously intervened by showing the dreadful economic managers (NDC) the exit through universal adult suffrage, the terrible errors in decision-making and the rampant sleazes and corruption would have wiped out Ghana off the world map without a trace.

Verily, we can confidently conclude that discerning Ghanaians made the right choice on 7th December 2016 by electing the septuagenarian Nana Akufo-Addo and retiring the middle-aged John Dramani Mahama.

It is absolutely true that for well over five years, dumsor revoltingly crippled businesses as a result of the mismanagement of the economy by Mahama’s administration.

Given the harsh conditions back then, my uneducated, albeit reflective thinking mum, unlike my inflexible maternal uncle Oliver (a brassbound NDC supporter), underwent a carefully considered reflection and graciously detached herself from the Umbrella fraternity.

I recall prior to the 2016 general elections, I had an interesting telephone conversation with my mother about politics and socio-economic standards of living in Ghana.

In fact, at no point in time during our interesting conversation that my mother indicated her willingness to detach herself from her unbridled loyalty to the NDC.

It, therefore, came as a surprise to me when my mother confided in me earlier last year that she has ceased being a die-hard supporter of the NDC.

I thought I was having a bad nightmare, but I was not. I was well and kicking. My mother was indeed pouring her heart out. She has detached herself from her unbridled loyalty to the Umbrella fraternity.

Wonders shall never end, they say. In fact, I never envisioned for a minute that my mother could one day cease being a brassbound supporter of the NDC.

And what was her excuse for detaching herself from the Umbrella fraternity then?

Well, according to my mother, the straw that broke the camel’s back was the panorama of sleazes and corruption amid the business crippling dumsor under the erstwhile NDC administration.

But all said and done, it is quite disheartening to see the NDC loyalists whose businesses were wilfully asphyxiated by Mahama’s appalling dumsor are squeamishly clamouring for the return of Ex-President Mahama and their beloved NDC.

If anything at all, the loyal supporters of Mahama should accept the fact that discerning Ghanaians have overcome their supposedly memory loss and cannot so soon forget the terrible errors in judgement which culminated in economic hardships.

The fact of the matter is that the vast majority of unhappy Ghanaians voted against the NDC and Ex-President Mahama in the 2016 election largely due to the unresolved business crippling dumsor, the unpardonable incompetence and the wanton sleazes and corruption.

Gratifyingly, the once mismanaged economy and the business crippling dumsor have since been brought under control by the NPP government under the able leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo to the delight of discerning Ghanaians.

Well, the Mahama loyalists must accept the fact that discerning Ghanaians cannot so soon forget the dreadful errors in judgement which culminated in economic hardships amid the unbridled business crippling ‘dumsor’.

You may believe it or not, the vast majority of aggrieved Ghanaians voted against Mahama in the 2016 election largely due to the unresolved dumsor.

But the dumsor has since been contained by the NPP government under the able leadership of President Nana Akufo-Addo to the delight of discerning Ghanaians.
