Egyptian giants Al Ahly are interested in Asante Kotoko striker Songne Yacouba but are yet to make an official bid according an official of the club.

The club official who did not give permission for his name to be made public disclosed to footballmadeinghana.com that Yacouba is one of the few players Al Ahly have targeted to strengthen their side.

According to him, the quoted figure of $1.5m for the purchase of the Kotoko striker is not true since Al Ahly have not approached Asante Kotoko or the player’s agent.

He, however, did rule out a bid for the Kotoko front man adding, “he’s one of the players we want.”

“There have been nominations for many players for us to contact and Yacouba is one of them,” he told FootballMadeInGhana.com

“But we have not settled or resolved on a specific name so far.

“We have also not entered into direct negotiations with Kotoko or agreed on the financial equivalent as was said and the player’s personal terms as reported,” he added.

“There are several players we are considering and his (Yacouba) name is one of them. But we are even yet to settle on who to contact and start negotiations.”

He also added that if the technical team requests that they need Yacouba after watching his clips, they will contact Asante Kotoko and start negations.

Reports in the Ghanaian media on Tuesday had suggested that the Egyptian giants have tabled an eye popping $1.5m to scoop the striker.

Yacouba has scored just a goal in Asante Kotoko’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign but has been overly influential to the side’s goals throughout the campaign.

The move, if eventually made by Al Ahly, will be a lucrative business for the Porcupine Warriors.
