600 people undergo Paul Ansah’s free health screening at Atimpoku

Aspiring Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman, Mr. Paul Asare Ansah has organized a free health-screening exercise for more than 600 people from various communities in the constituency.

The exercise held on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Atimpoku, formed part of the commitment of the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary Candidate to ensure quality healthcare of his constituents.

The screening attracted beneficiaries who came from far and near communities including Atimpoku, Akosombo, Anum, Akrade, Asikuma, Apegusu, etc. to undergo the free screening.

Mr. Paul Ansah in an interview with the media after the exercise, prioritized the importance of health in nation building.

The aspiring legislator who identified poverty as a major hindrance to accessing quality healthcare by the people aside education, said the situation compelled him to liaise with the New Patriotic Party’s medical team in Koforidua on the need to conduct a health screening exercise for the people.

The Technical Advisor to the Ministry of Transport who funded the exercise was pleased that the team did not only conduct the screening but offered appropriate free medication to those who underwent the screening to address their various health conditions.

Mr. Ansah expressed his readiness to continue to offer assistance to those afflicted, adding that he’s hopeful of the support of his constituents to annex the parliamentary seat to continue to support them in diverse ways.

In a post-screening interview at Atimpoku where the exercise was held, Chairman of the NPP Eastern Regional Chapter Medical Team, Dr. Frank Yirenkyi who led the team of health workers, said the exercise was necessitated to enhance quality health conditions of the people.

This, he explained, was because some of the residents suffered from various health-related conditions but lacked the financial resources to seek medical attention.

According to him, the medical team came prepared to address any ailment, adding that the team brought experts including Ear, Nose and Throat, ENT specialists to address such sicknesses.

The health team made up of volunteers, is committed to offering free medical assistance to the afflicted.

Dr. Yirenkyi appealed to Ghanaians to pay particular attention to their health and ensure good sanitation practices in their communities to avoid sanitation-related sicknesses.

Some of the cases the team screened residents for included hypertension, diabetes, fever, malaria, typhoid, etc. Dr. Yirenkyi mentioned, and added that while some of the clients with more serious conditions which require operations would be prepared for the process in hospitals, drugs were also prescribed for some of the beneficiaries to treat certain conditions whilst the rest were given drugs and other requisite medicaments.

A beneficiary of the screening, who expressed his appreciation to the MP aspirant, called on the electorate to vote massively for Mr. Paul Ansah to enable him go to parliament to bring development such as quality education, potable drinking water, electricity supply, etc. to deprived communities in Asuogyaman as most villages and communities around lack developmental projects.

He added that he was grateful for the opportunity as it gave him the chance to know his health status.

Another beneficiary, Abena Ohemaa profoundly thanked the NPP parliamentary candidate for bringing the medical team to her community. She however prayed Mr. Ansah to, on behalf of the people, lobby government to include the cost of conducting scans onto the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) since most people were unable to heed doctors’ directive to conduct scans due to the cost which is beyond the means of most ordinary Ghanaians.

The beneficiaries were also offered breakfast as part of the exercise.
