The Suame District Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Patient Ananeon, suspected of child abduction after a missing six-month-old baby was found at Bantama-Yeji, near Kwame Danso in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

The baby, who was reported missing in Kumasi at Kwame Antwi lorry station on Sunday, January 13, 2019, after he was left under the care of the suspect by the mother, was found at the Brong-Ahafo community on 17th January around 8:00 pm.

The suspect, who is in police custody, was apprehended by two young men in the Bantama-Yeji community before she was handed over to police for onward transfer to the Suame police, ASP Godwin Ahianyo told DAILY GUIDE.

He said Patient, a neighbour of Abena Kubura (mother of the victim) at the lorry station, escaped with the baby boy when she took the toddler to enable the mother to go and wash the baby’s clothing.

ASP Ahianyo disclosed that a major police hunt was launched when the baby was reported missing last week, leading to his rescue and reunion to the mother.

The police spokesman praised the instrumentality and lead role played by the assembly member of Bantama-Yeji and the Kontihene of Kojo Bofour community.
