TOR REPAIR WORKS TO TAKE 10 DAYS
The management of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has announced that repair works on the crude oil pipelines, damaged as a result of the Tema Habour fire outbreak are to be completed in ten days.
It said, however, that work on the damaged pump house where sea-water is pumped to the refinery, would take a long time because new equipment to be ordered would take between six and nine months to arrive in the country.
The general manager of TOR in charge of engineering, Mr Robert Appau, revealed this on Friday when the parliamentary select committee on mines and energy as well as roads and transport, visited the site of the fire outbreak to assess the extent of damage.
However, Mr Andrew Baafi Owusu, general manager in charge of distribution, said TOR has enough stock of crude oil to last for two months before the repair works on the pipelines would be completed.
“We have enough crude stock of 100,000 tonnes, so there is no cause for alarm as far as petroleum products are concerned.” he told the committee members.
