Former Chairman of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Dr Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe says if he were the Minister of Youth and Sports he would have sacked Black Stars coach, Avram Grant long ago because the Israeli “is not teaching the players anything”.

According to Dr Tamakloe, Grant’s protracted absences from the country is also a factor that should have cost him his job long ago.

In an interview on Asempa FM on Tuesday, Dr Tamakloe said he was not happy with the poor stewardship of Avram Grant, urging the Sports Ministry to call for his head.

“I am not happy particularly with the national team. The way the national team is picked and the coach handling the national team I am not comforatble with him.

“You see, coaches are employed so that they impart what they have on the players but here we have a coach who hardly stays in the country and when we have a match he will pick boys from certain areas put them together and go and play. He is not teaching them anything.”

“The first time that we had a coach who really taught our boys was we were able to qualify for the World Cup in 2006 under Djokovic.

“So me, this coach we have who does not like staying in the country, If I happened to be the Minister responsible for Sports I would have kicked him out long ago”.

On 4 May, 2005, the then head of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Dr Nyaho Tamakloe resigned angrily, shortly after a court ruled that the association could go ahead with impeachment proceedings against him.
