GPC partners Agitos Foundation to train coaches

The Ghana Paralympics Committee (GPC) has partnered with the Agitos Foundation International Paralympic Committee to organise a two-day workshop to train coaches at the National Sports College, Winneba.

The two-day workshop is designed to empower the national paralympic coaches to train athletes in the respective sporting disciplines by acquiring knowledge and skills as part of the association’s preparations towards the 2016 Paralympics Games in Rio, Brazil.

The programme targets about 30 participants nationwide to inculcate the knowledge acquired to the athletes who will represent the country during competition.

The general secretary of GPC, Ignatius Elletey, encouraged the participants to give their best to achieve the set goals.

Director of the National Sports College, Erasmus Adorkor, urged the coaches to take advantage of the seminar to develop the teams and their performance.

He said “The coaches are to prepare their various teams by dint of hard work to excel. The trainers are here to learn to harness the talents of young ones to prepare them for future tournaments and not be a liability to the nation”.

Adorkor disclosed that, the Agitos Foundation would fund the national paralympic sports festival in December 2014.
