Hathramani memorial championship slated for 22nd November

Chief Coach of the Ghana Table Tennis Association Emmanuel Owusu Ansah has admitted that reigning DG Hathramani champion Derrick Abrefa faces a stiff test ahead of this year’s competition.

The Annual championship which has been slated for 22nd of November will see all the top table tennis players in the country battling it out for the ultimate.

Players from the Security services and regions are expected to compete to commemorate former sports icon D.G Hathramani.

Head coach Emmanuel Owusu Ansah admitted that reigning champion Derrick Abrefa will have to up his game if he wants to defend his 2013 trophy because the likes of Emmanuel Commey will prove too tough for the latter.

“The D.G Hathramani championship will come on and it’s being sponsored by S.A. Quaye, we have arranged for trophies and all is sorted out now. All that we need is to get the players from their various places to come and compete.”

“This year will be exciting because Emmanuel Commey has been training very well and looks likely to pick the ultimate from Derrick Abrefa. He is just on fire and I will not be surprise if he comes on top.”
