Accam confirms he will leave Helsingborg

Ghana striker David Accam has confirmed he will leave Helsingborg at the end of the season.

The 23-year-old is earning rave reviews in Sweden and is currently second top scorer in Allsvenskan with 17 goals so far.

The Ghanaian international has been a subject of intense speculation with reports linking him to several clubs in Europe, Asia, Middle East and lately South America.

He has confirmed he will not extend his deal with the Swedish side when it expires at the end of the current campaign.

“The time has come for me to leave, he told evening post.

“No, I don’t think. It’s time for me to leave the club after the season. I must continue to develop as a footballer.”

Accam, who can play as a winger or a striker, is a product of the Right to Dream academy in his native Ghana and he spent time in the English non-league ranks earlier in his career.

It was at Ostersund where Accam came to prominence scoring nine goals in 14 games, prompting Helsinborg to pay a record fee for a player from the Swedish third division.

Accam has won several call-ups to the Ghana national team in the last 18 months, but is yet to make his debut.

Scouts from clubs across Europe are thought to have watched the exciting attacker in action this season.
