Versatile Ghanaian international Samuel Laryea Mensah is eager to bounce back stronger in the Swedish top-flight after a serious knee injury kept him in the treatment room for the major part of the season.

The former Forest Green of England and Ostersunds player of the season is ready to put the injury he suffered at Orebro BK behind him and come good again.

“I started last season brightly, though a defender I scored two goals in the pre-season and played seven games in the league before the injury,” Mensah told Goal Ghana.

“I do not consider the injury as a setback because it is part of the game. Now I’ll have to comeback strongly next season and work even harder which is very important because the coach who bought me last year has left and there is a new coach so I have to prove myself to him also,” he added.

Mensah who can play anywhere across the backline and also as a defensive midfielder was full of praise for his side who placed sixth in their return to the Swedish Allsvenskan and is ready to offer his maximum best in the coming campaign.

“When the league started our aim was to remain in the top flight as a newly-promoted side. We worked hard and it yielded results as we placed sixth this ended season. Though I played only seven games, I was happy we finished in the top ranks.

“I am looking forward to next season so that I can also contribute my best as we eye an European competition place,” Mensah added.

The 24-year-old featured for the All English Colleges national team when he was at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.
