2014 President's Cup set for July 25-27

Alhaji Raji, the President of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) has revealed that, this year's President's Cup will take place later this month.

This year’s edition of the annual football event held in commemoration of Ghana's Republic Day, July 1st, had to be postponed due to the Black Stars’ participation in the on-going 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The GHALCA chief in an interview with Accra-based Asempa FM has confirmed the competition would now take place between these days 25-27th of July.

"We wrote a proposal to the President and his entourage to ask for a postponement in date of the event because, during World Cups, all other football matters are almost relegated," Alhaji Raji noted

"However, we decided to fix on 25-27 July and it has been agreed. GHALCA will soon release the teams involved and other details."

Mr. Raji touched on another annual event equally important on the Ghanaian football calendar - GHALCA Top 8 (originally known as 'Top 4') competition saying it will also come off at an undecided date and time, as of yet.

"The sponsors are willing to support all the eight teams to be involved. Dates and other relevant details will as well be communicated to the clubs and general public."
