Assifuah in line for CAF top award

Ghana striker Ebenezer Assifuah is in strong contention for the continent’s Most Promising Player award at the Caf Awards in Lagos on Thursday night.

The FC Sion player scored seven goals in six matches to win the Adidas Golden Boot award at the 2013 World Under-20 Championship in Turkey.

His goal scoring feat helped the Black Satellites to snatch the bronze medal after beating Iraq in the third-place play-off.

The former Liberty Professionals player is the only person flying the flag of Ghana aloft at the ceremony after Asamoah Gyan failed to make the final list of the continent’s best player.

Assifuah is being challenged by Alexis Yougouda (Cameroon), Kelechi Iheanacho (Nigeria) and Saleh Gomaa (Egypt).
