I concur with the coach. Ronaldo seems to be in fantastic form. He has been single-handedly propelling Real Madrid to challenge for honours in both la liga amd Eufa Champions league and also carried Portugal to Brazil. At the moment he looks unstoppable. He is deadly in both feet and very good in the air. So Akwasi Appiah has his work cut out. The danger is it will be difficult to have one player marking him because he operates as a free agent; on the left; right and centre. So apart from getting one player to mark him, the coach has to ensure his movements on and off the ball are also curtailed. Among his repertoire of skills is his ability to run on to through balls behind the defence and score. In this respect I think we may need a sweeper to stop his runs behind the defence. I think the ideal Black Stars player who can mark Ronaldo is his former team mate Michael Essien. I remember the bison did a very effective job on Lionel Messi one encounter in a El Classico league match. Like Ronaldo, Michael is versatile and can hold him in any position he operates. I wish Akwasi God's guidance throughout the tournament.

In the mean time Ken, do you think CR7 is MRAA's opponent or an arch enemy?
I believe he's just an opponent and that Essien and the unheralded 'backlords' can thwart his efforts.
Beats Me.

Bro. Sarks, in football like in politics, those who stand in your way are more opponents rather than arch enemies. I think Akwasi Appiah's arch enemies are not Ronaldo; Ozil or Donovan. They are those Ghanaians who for some reason are trying to undermine him and continue to look for opportunities to do so. He may not be Pep Guardiola; Ancelotti, Wenger or Mourinho at the moment. But I believe he is getting there, helped by a fantastic group of players who seem to have faith in themselves and continue to do so with every challenge thrown at them. If AA believes in himself; and continue to work hard to acquaint himself with the technicalities of the modern game he will continue to confound those real arch enemies. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, my brother. Please don't let the New Year beat you! I think things will be great.

Most Ghanaians are still under slave mentality thinking everything white is better than anything Ghanaian. You did hear of Tech Director when the Serbians who had not being to world cup before were in charge. Akwesi Appiah had been to world cup as assistant coach, CAN as an assistant and CAN as a full time coach which of the Serbians came to Ghana with that hence because he is a Ghanaian people are calling for so-called Tech Director. Pep Guardiola; Ancelotti, Wenger or Mourinho have never being an assistant or coach a team in the world cup. Handling a club is different then handling a National team with club you can "buy" any player national team you are limited.

"In Africa in general your opponents are always called your enemies....' Mr N perhaps that explain why our democracy is littered with gutter politics; insults and apathy. Quite frankly I am surprised by the reaction to the reference to Ronaldo as "World Cup enemy." This is because I see it as just a figurative parley hence the quote mark. If anything I think the writer was displaying tabloid journalism; just to create sensation. I think the single quote marks say it all. Although football can sometimes be highly competitive and intense; it is a game of friendly rivalry not war.

Brother Ken, what you've just said was true but how to handle Ronaldo is going to be determine after their first match against Germany. That is where we will get the clear picture of what is ahead of us. Our first match & third encounter against U.S.A is something we should be cautious about because, we can't beat them all the taam. We are in a very hectic situation in Group G!

Yes Bro. K, it will be tough in our group. I don't know why but it appears Ghana are always confronted with tough challenges in group games and qualifying matches for tournaments be it the Black Meteors; Satellites; Starlets; Queens, Princesses or Maidens. But by God''s Grace we always
live up to the challenge and perform nicely. I have a strong believe we can beat Portugal and the USA and draw with the Germans if we prepare well; respect all teams but fear none; and have believe in ourselves. Long Live Ghana and Good Luck to the Black Stars. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family.

We have many players who can man mark Ronaldo. But I will prefer Essien. He can play in most positions. So if Ronaldo runs to the left, right or centre as he does he can follow him there and play in whatever position; including the midfield.
