Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Mas-Ud Dramani, says his side will kick start this year’s Premier League on Sunday as favourites.
Kotoko the defending champions, who are serving a home ban open their defence against Aduana Stars at the Sunyani Coronation Park, in a game Dramani insists will spark an incredible season ahead for the Porcupine Warriors.
He told GNA Sports: ‘We will start as favourites for the title. We have high hopes ahead of our opening game against Aduana and we plan to go all the way.
'Lifting the Super Cup last week has given us a lot of confidence and the moral of the boys is very high. But we are working on our psyche to avoid complacency. It is important to take the games after the other and that will be our approach”, he stated.
"The quality of the team is very good and there is good depth on the bench as well. There is a fine sense of motivation among the players and the signs are good.", he added.
Dramani was quick however to point out the enormity of the task ahead. "We have big expectations and we know it will not be easy. We have started working towards it because we appreciate that the league will be very difficult one’, he stated.
"With many clubs undergoing pre-season training because it is very crucial to the success of the team, I expect a very tough challenge.
"Regardless, I am hopeful because these boys work very hard at training and are willing to implement that during our matches. A lot of work has gone into our preparations and we plan to modify some things as we move forward", he stated.
Kotoko who were handed a three-home ban last season following crowd violence at the Baba Yara Stadium in their league match against Medeama SC have served two of the three-match home ban last season.
The Porcupine Warriors will however return to their favourite Baba Yara Stadium for the Week 3 clash against Edubiase in a regional derby on Sunday, September 29.
