CL: Madrid down but not out - Essien

Michael Essien remains positive of Real Madrid’s chances in the Champions League despite the heavy 4-1 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night.
The Ghana international was left behind for the first leg semi final game in Germany as he continues with his recovery from a muscle problem.
The on-loan Chelsea player with the Spanish champions had to watch in agony as his teammates were slayed by the impressive Dortmund team – in particular, striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Pole scored all four goals to sum up an impressive team performance by the dethroned German champions before a packed home crowd at Westfalenstadion. Essien however remains resolute in his believe that the tie is still alive with the second leg to come at the Santiago Bernabeu next week.
“Bad night for Madrid, down but not out and we will fight at home till the last minute,” the Ghana international tweeted after the dreadful defeat on Wednesday.
Real Madrid must now score three unanswered goals to progress to the grand finale of the prestigious competition at the expense of the marauding Black Yellows.
This looks highly unlikely with Dortmund’s potent attack and sometimes robust defence.
