Neil Armstrong favorite for Hearts top job

Footy-ghana.com understands that marketing expert Neil Armstrong-Mortagbe is favorite to be appointed the new substantive Chief Executive Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak.

According to our sources, Armstrong-Mortagbe, who is currently the Managing Director of Optimum Media Prime (OMP) reportedly presented marketing proposals to the club’s hierarchy a few months ago, which led to a meeting between himself and the club’s Executive Board Chairman, Togbe Afede XIV.

Footy-ghana.com has also learnt that Ashanti Gold Chief Executive Cudjoe Fianoo is a contender for the job, and already, one of Hearts of Oak’s ardent supporters, Kwaku Adusei (Kanawu) has been actively campaigning on his behalf.

Former King Faisal and Hearts of Oak CEO Vincent Sowah Odotei is said to be interested in the position as well.

When contacted, the club’s spokesperson Muheed Saeed told footy-ghana.com that the Board of Directors would soon meet to appoint a new CEO, noting that Togbe Afede XIV’s mandate as acting Executive Board Chairman ends tomorrow.

“Our Board Chairman has been acting as the Chief Executive but his mandate ends on February 28 2013. So the Board will soon meet and in March, we should have our new substantive CEO.”

Saeed gave a reminder that he debunked a story by national sports paper Graphic Sports two months ago that Armstrong Mortagbe was going to be handed the top job, even though he confirmed that talks had taken place between former National Chapters Committee Chairman and Togbe Afede XIV.

Hearts of Oak has been without a substantive CEO since Fred Crentsil left the position last November to take up the position of Ghana Football Association Vice President.
