After his exploits in the just ended Nations Cup in South Africa, Ghanaian Referee AS Malik has set his sights on officiating at the World Cup.
The Tamale based Assistant referee alongside David Laryea represented Ghana at the Continental show piece after a rather rigorous selection procedure.
AS Malik was handed two games during the 3 -week long tourney comprising the Group A encounter between Cape Verde and Morocco and the Group D encounter between Ivory coast and Algeria.
He was one of the few officials who were retained by the CAF technical Committee after the group matches and stayed throughout the tournament.
He told JOY Sports his immediate aim after chalking this historic feat is to make an appearance on the World Stage.
"You know very well that for everybody where ever you find yourself you try to improve. For now I have accomplished part of my career targets, officiating in Ghana and Africa. The next step is the World Cup. I am combining prayers with hard work to ensure it happens" he said.
He would resume full responsibilities here in the country when the second round of the Glo Premier League begins on the 24th of February,2013.
