Bristol City’s Albert Adomah said he is under no pressure to impress at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations after the No. 10 jersey of the Black Stars was given to him.

The iconic No. 10 shirt has usually been a total preserve of Ghana’s captains until it was given to Juventus midfielder Kwadwo Asamoah, when Stephen Appiah retired from international football and recently to Andre Ayew of Olympique Marseille.

Since Ayew was unable to make it to the 29th edition of the continental showpiece due to injury, Adomah will wear the famous shirt as Ghana hunt for a fifth continental title.

The winger said he is calm and collected and will play his normal game, despite the pressure that comes with wearing the celebrated number.

“Numbers don’t matter, but what you can do on the pitch,” Adomah told Accra-based Citi FM. “I am under no pressure.”

“I am a winner and I see it as a privilege to wear the number. It’s a privilege to play for my motherland.”

Adomah, who will be appearing at the Nations Cup in South Africa for the first time, said making the cut for the final squad was a dream come through and brings a lot of honour to his parents.

“For me to be part of a tournament like this will bring a lot of tears to my mother,” he said.
