Vandals charge for Tigo Community Soccer

Vociferous players and fans of Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana are pumped up for action in addition to the usual fun, excitement and suspense as the Tigo Community Soccer challenge takes centre stage in Madina this coming Saturday and Sunday.

The Vandals take their huge rivalry with Mensah Sarbah Hall outside of the University campus as they join 14 other communities in the final leg of Accra Territory set for the Madina No. 1 Park. Sportsinghana.com sources indicate that the red army of vociferous Vandals have vowed to devour their Vikings ‘colony’ both with the ‘dzama’ songs and on the soccer pitch. Other communities also supposed to register for the two-day event are Madina No.1, Madina No.2, Madina Estate, Madina Zongo, Maye Hot, Haatso, Agbogba, Pantang, Ashalley Botwe New Town, Ashalley Botwe Old Town, Adenta Asante Park, Adenta Community, Bawaleshie and Ritz.

As usual, 16 community teams are expected to register at the Tigo Service Centre in Madina to compete for cash prizes, medals, Tigo souvenirs galore and opportunities to be poached by watching scouts but not be left out of the celebrations are the fans who will also get Tigo souvenirs and a chance to win more in the Azonto dance challenge as well as women’s penalty shoot-out.

The 2012 Tigo Community Soccer tour got off to a splendid start barely a fortnight ago in Bukom where Mamprobi won the first trophy before Zamrama Line wrote themselves into the record books by claiming victory in last week’s event in Dansoman.

After Madina, the train moves to the Eastern Territory where Tema will be the first stop.
