William Tiero won’t give up on Black Stars

William Tiero won’t give up on Black Stars Portugal based holding midfielder, William Kwabena Tiero is not giving up on his dream of playing for the Black Stars again even after national team selectors omitted him from the squad to face Cape Verde in a friendly international in the Portuguese capital on Tuesday. Coach Kwesi Appiah and his charges face the Nations’ Cup debutants who knocked Cameroon out to take their historic place at Africa’s mega football showpiece in a warm-up for the main event now barely two months away.

Tiero, who is based in Porto where he plays for Gil Vicente, has exclusively confirmed to 90 MINUTES that he will travel to support the Black Stars at the University of Lisbon Sports Stadium. “No problem that I’m not part of the team, it’s football.

God’s time is the best, by his grace, all is well and I will just keep working hard and hope my time will come. Ghana is my country and I love the Black Stars, so play or not, I will be there to give them my full support,” Tiero said.

Other Portugal based Ghanaians, Porto whiz kid Christian Atsu and left back David Addy who plays for Victor Guimaraes have both been handed call-ups for the game and Tiero is backing them to succeed especially close pal Atsu.

“They are young players coming up and I wish them the very best. Atsu and I are most of the time together and I think he is doing well but he must not let the praises get into his head. He has to keep working harder because I think he can still improve very much,” Tiero told 90 MINUTES from his Portugal base.
