Gyan swoops double in maiden National Player Awards

Asamoah Gyan completed a double swoop of awards at the maiden National Player Awards ceremony held at the State Banquet Hall on Friday.
The Ghana striker emerged the Top Scorer and the Most Valuable player in the Black Stars Division.
Gyan, 26, was rewarded for the vital role he played in Ghana’s campaign in the qualification series to the 2012 Nations Cup.
Ex Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah also picked up the Most Dedicated Player Award in the same division.
Striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom also bagged a double in the Black Satellites’ Division.
He came away with the Top Scorer and Most Valuable Player Awards while Rashid Sumaila picked up the Most Dedicated Player Award in that Division.
The National Player Awards scheme has been instituted to acknowledge the immense contributions of individuals and groups in national service through playing for the various national teams.
