Youth and Sports Minister to inspect multi-purpose youth centers

Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Minister of Youth and Sports, will soon inspect ongoing works at the ten multi-purpose youth centres nationwide.

The inspection, is to assess the progress of work undertaken, since their commencement across the country.

It is also to ensure that that, contractors were within schedule.

The inspection, according to information gathered by the GNA Sports, was a follow up to a meeting between all the contractors and the minister.

According to the information, the contractors were expected to complete the project by the close of the first quarter of 2019, hence the decision of the sector minister to ensure that, they abide by the schedule.

The ministry in collaboration with the National Youth Authority (NYA) earlier this year cut sod for the commencement of ten multi-purpose youth centres nationwide.

The centers were to create jobs and empower the youth through sports infrastructure and development.

The multi-purpose youth centres, would be made of 5000 to 15000 sitting capacity at the various centers, with a FIFA standard football pitch, an eight-lane tartan tracks, tennis courts, basketball courts, handball courts, gymnasiums, boxing arena at some of the centres, swimming pool, ICT Training centres, counselling centres, entrepreneurship centres and modern restaurants.

The projects, are scheduled to be completed within nine to eleven months and are located in all ten regions.
