It’s the perfect time for hitting good form for Abdul Majeed Waris who scored his fourth straight goal in Ligue 1 on Saturday night as Lorient lost 3-2 at Toulouse.

Having failed to score in the nine months previous, the Ghana forward has hit a rich vein of form that has seen him notch four back-to-back goals as Lorient continue to fight against the heavy tide of relegation.

They were undone by Swedish striker Ola Toivonen who scored a hat trick for the hosts at the Stade Municipal.

Toivonen scored his first of the evening on eight minutes and converted the second twelve minutes later.

Despite the early setback, Lorient attempted to rally in the first half and they were rewarded for their tenacity with a goal from Cameroon striker Benjamin Moukandjo on 27 minutes.

However, Toivonen returned to the second half as wily as ever and got his hat trick on 60 minutes.

Lorient continued fighting and it wasn’t until the 89th minute when Waris scored to make for a very nervy finish to the encounter.

Toulouse held on for the win which took them up to seventh spot with 25 points while Lorient remained at the bottom of the table on 12 points.

While his club continues to struggle, Waris’ top form would be a delight for Ghana coach Avram Grant who is expected to announce his squad for next month’s Africa Cup of Nations soon.

Lorient would also lose Moukandjo who has scored seven goals so far as he is expected to join up with the Indomitable Lions for the tournament in Gabon.
