The 2015 MTN FA Cup semifinals games have been confirmed for Sunyani and Cape Coast on the weekend of July 10-12.

There has been a departure from the usual Kumasi and Accra venues in previous editions. The FA Cup Committee, by amendments to the regulations governing the competition at last year’s Ghana FA Congress, has been vested with the authority to decide on suitable venues for the last four stage of the competition, supersport.com has confirmed.

”Last year December (2014), the Ghana FA Congress passed a new set of amendments for the FA Cup Competition and the new rules now allow the organising committee to decide on venues for the semifinal games unlike in previous years,” the FA Cup committee’s director of operations, Kurt Okraku, explained.

“This allows the Committee to be able to further take the excitement of the FA Cup to the fans and ensure fairness (venue wise) so this year we have confirmed Sunyani and Cape Coast as venues for the semifinals.

“It is a good way of giving the fans a thrills of the Cup. This year, fans in Sunyani and Cape Coast have the chance to witness great games from the best four teams from the FA Cup which previously was hard to happen. It is a big gift from the FA to the fans in these cities and we expect them to fill the stands,” he said.

The first semifinal game between holders Asante Kotoko and Aduana Stars has been confirmed for Friday, July 10 at the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Two days later (July 12), Hearts of Oak and Medeama will lock horns at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast.

The winners from these games will set up an August 30 grand finale which the Committee will communicate its venue at a later date. The winner of the FA Cup gets an automatic ticket to represent Ghana in the 2016 Caf Confederation Cup.
