Former Black Stars captain, Charles Kwabena Akunnor has indicated that people who are not closer to Sulley Muntari have a misconception about him.
Muntari has apologised to Ghanaians for his unacceptable behaviour during the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil that led to his expulsion from camp, prior to Ghana’s last group game against Portugal.

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry that was set up to inquire into events before, during and after the Brazil 2014 FIFA World that led to Ghana’s exit from the competition at the group stage.

Muntari and his partner in crime Kevin Prince Boateng were fingered in the report, by stating they should only be recalled into the Black Stars, if they render an unqualified apology to all parties offended and the government white paper even suggested stiffer punishment.

The former Inter Milan and AC Milan midfielder, after a deeper reflection has rendered apology to Ghanaians for his behaviour in Brazil 2014.

“Sulley is not a bad guy, he is a good guy. Anybody who has ever had an encounter with him would testify and such a person would appreciate him without saying any negative thing about him,” he told Happy FM.

“Everybody has sinned before, so to err is human. After a deep reflection he has realised what he did in Brazil was wrong and has shown remorse by apologising, so I am entreating Ghanaians to accept the apology and if the head coach feels he fits into his scheme of things, we should permit his return into the Black Stars.

“Similar thing happened to me when I was axed from the Black Stars at a time I was the captain of the team without any explanation. I knew the people behind that.

“I was bitter and I expressed it in a negative way. Three years later I realised what I did was wrong, so I apologised.” he recounted
