Kotoko appeal against GFA DC ruling

Kotoko’s management has filed documents at the Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), seeking a reversal of the Disciplinary Committee ruling which docked the club six points in the Hearts of Oak-Obed Owusu case.

The GFA’s legal body earlier this week, ruled that, Kotoko should pay GH?5,000 as a fine besides the forfeiture of the three points they earned in the match day 25 Premier League game on August 2, which they won 2-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Kotoko also lost an additional three points as punishment for fielding Obed Owusu, who according to the disciplinary committee was unqualified. Kotoko therefore dropped from 3rd position to 15th place on the league table with the risk of being relegated.

Kotoko fans have been incensed by the committee’s ruling which essentially argued that, although the Elite Clubs Cup match (against Dunkwa United, in which Obed Owusu did not play, and in consequence served his yellow card suspension) was a GFA-sanctioned match, it could not be taken as an official match of the GFA – a decision Kotoko managers totally reject.

Accra Representative, Edmund Ackah in a chat with Asantekotokosc.com, disclosed that, they filed the appeal on Thursday – just a day into the three-day chance, within which the club has to file an appeal.

Edmund Ackah expressed the confidence that, the Appeals Committee of the GFA will reverse the judgement given by the disciplinary committee.
