Head coach and Technical Director of Division one league side Star Madrid FC, Michael Osei believes the start of the 2019/20 football season is too early.

The new season is scheduled to kick off on December 27-29 after a one-year absence due to the investigative piece by ace journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas on corruption in Ghana football.

Speaking in interview with Kumasi based OTEC FM, he revealed the new season should commence in the middle of January because we are already far behind time and can't synchronize with the European calendar.

"I don't think is a good idea to start the league this December, a lot of the teams were on break for some months, some even didn't kick a ball for almost a year. A lot of the players have been rusty and needs some time to prepare", he said.

"I think the commencement of the league should be in the middle of January because starting it in December won't help. We are already far behind time and can't synchronize with the European calendar. Is better they (GFA) plan and prepare the game very well so that people can enjoy the beauty of it", he added.
