Ex-Hearts coach Herbert Addo is startled by the bitter power struggle which has rocked the club and says its'a catalogue of catastrophe'.

An acrimonious power struggle over the direction of the Ghanaian powerhouse continues to rumble at the club with celebrated former chairman Harry Zakkour leading a campaign of constant attack on majority shareholder Togbe Afede XIV.

Zakkour feels the Asogli traditional chief has run the club down since he bought majority stake in the club three years ago, and has constantly launched scathing attack on his leadership qualities.

He has accused him of running a one-man show amongst others and has not lost a single chance to launch a stinging pot-shot at the successful businessman.

Former Board member Bright Akwettey has vowed to reclaim the struggling Ghanaian giants from the majority shareholder amid incessant pressure from the club’s supporters.

But ex-Hearts coach Herbert Addo is amazed at the ‘war’ waged against Togbe Afede by former top officials of the club.

“What I picked from Hearts of Oak was not good. So many people are talking about the Togbe, the Togbe,” he told Accra-based Starr FM

“The Togbe has done so much for the club and yet there are groups that are pulling him down. I feel so sad. I don’t know whether it’s a personality clash or what. The factions are too many.”

Togbe Afede, the Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State became the majority shareholder of the club after acquiring 20% of the shares floated by the club in 2011.

But the club has struggled since the President of the Asogli Traditional Area in the Volta Region of Ghana bought majority stake in the club.

The club has remained trophyless since 2009 and continues to play catch-ups to rivals Asante Kotoko, a situation which has angered their teeming and demanding supporters over the last couple of years.

Some have attributed their downward spiral to the floating of shares which has seen some of their stalwart breaking ranks with the club.
