Hans Sarpei is confident that Germany will reach the final of Euro 2016 and believes that Die Mannschaft will come up against Belgium in Paris on July 10.

Writing in his column for Stern, the former Wolfsburg defender has predicted that Germany will beat Italy 2-0 in their quarter-final in Bordeaux on Saturday.

Joachim Low’s side have reached the last eight after cruising past Slovakia in the Round of 16, while Italy topped Group E—the group of death—before affirming their title credentials by eliminating defending champions Spain in Saint-Denis on Monday.

Despite Italy’s competent performance, Sarpei is confident Germany will advance to the final four at the expense of their quarter-final opponents.

“I bet on a clear 2-0 for Germany,” the ex-full-back began, “who would then meet the winner of France against Iceland in the semi-final.

“I expect that Belgium will await them in the final,” he added. “It’s doable, if you ask me.”

Sarpei, who enjoyed a long career in German football, playing for the likes of Fortuna Koln, Bayer Leverkusen and Duisburg, retired in 2012 after two years with Schalke.

He has a German passport, but represented Ghana at two World Cups and three Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
