Ghana grapples with player pull outs

Black Stars Black Stars

Ghana is struggling with player availability for the international friendly against Canada next Tuesday.

Goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey who was due to make a return to the Black Stars team after sixteen months, will not be available for the game. His club has sought permission from the Ghana Football Association to excuse him from the game because of club commitments the same week.

Dede Ayew is also set to miss the game in Washington due to an injury. The withdrawal of the two players adds up to a plethora of problems threatening to ruin the game against Canada.

Captain Asamoah Gyan has already been ruled out because of a hamstring injury. The Ghana Football Association is yet to release the squad for the match.

Its Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara, has explained that delays in securing visas for the targeted players has been responsible for the delay in releasing the list of players for the game.

He said the Association wants to tie up all loose ends before going public with a squad because "it will be unprofessional to release a squad and backtrack on it later".
