Andre Ayew deserves to captain Black Stars – Tanko

Former Cameroon assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko wants Andre Ayew installed Black Stars captain with Asamoah Gyan battling injuries.

The ex-international striker wants Gyan to be elevated as general captain because of his physical frailties.

Gyan has missed Ghana’s last two competitive matches due to injuries and there are fears he might not be ready for next month’s final Nations Cup qualifier against Rwanda at home.

“I think the captaincy should be handed to Dede. Gyan has been injured for some time and if he is unable to make it to the AFCON then I think the Dede should be named as captain,” he told Starr FM.

“The Ghana Football Association and Avram Grant must meet with Gyan and explain to him. Gyan is the General Captain and the team but the injuries have been a problem.”
