Aduana, Kotoko handed opponents in CAF Champions League & Confederations Cup

Ghana Premier League champions Aduana Stars have been handed Libyan side El Tahadi in the preliminary round of the 2018 Caf Champions League, following a draw held in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday.

Aduana are making a return to the competition for the first time since 2011 while Tahadi are returning after a 40-year hiatus. This will be the second time running that a Ghanaian club will lock horns with a club from Libya at the prelims.

Ahly Tripoli eliminated Wa All Stars from the competition last season following a 5-1 aggregate.

The winner between Aduana and El Tahadi will face either ES Setif (Algeria) or Olympique de Bangui (Central Africa Rep) in the first round.

In the Confederations Cup, Ghana FA Cup champions Asante Kotoko have been drawn against nine-time Congo Brazzaville champions, Club Athletique Renaissance Aiglon (CARA).

The Porcupine Warriors are making a return after they were eliminated by MC Eulma in 2015.

The first leg will be played on the weekend of February 9-11, 2018 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi and, the second leg is expected to take place on the weekend of February 20-21 2018 in Brazzaville.

The winner will meet the winner between Tunisian side Ben Guerdane and Al Hilal Juba of Sudan
